Teresa’s “New” Job

Sheesh! I can’t believe I never posted anything about this…

Over two months ago, Teresa left her job at Baltimore County Public Schools to take a position as Coordinator of Staff Development and Retention in the Pharmacy Department of the University of Maryland Medical Center.

She had interviewed for that job prior to taking the BCPS job, and she loved the interview and expected the position. But they gave it to someone else. Four months later, that person took a new job in the Medical Center, and the director e-mailed Teresa to offer her the job. After some short discussions and negotiations, she accepted.

It was hard for her to leave BCPS, but she is loving her new position. She is on the management team of the pharmacy department and has responsibility for training, staff retention, and a growing variety of other HR and project management functions. The Medical Center has over 5,000 people on staff (including contractors), and the pharmacy department alone has over 200. Pharmacists are hard to find and keep, and she’s having a big, positive impact already.

You go girl!
